Vandyke Theare, September 2011

Brilliant performances from Leighton Buzzard Children's Theatre Youth Sections with special thanks to Jess, Emer. Alex and Lissie

Emer
I have been a part of LBCT for 8 years now and have loved every minute of it! As a child I was very shy and LBCT helped me to build up my confidence and are hugely responsible for the person I am today. Over the past 8 years I have performed in a number of musicals ranging from ‘The Pied Piper’ which was my first show to ‘Seussical The Musical’ being my last, and have enjoyed each of them in a different way and for different reasons! My favourite shows would have to be The King And I where I played the leading role Anna, Les Miserables and of course Seussical! What I love most about LBCT is the way every member matters and in some ways we are like one big family. I have met and made some amazing people and friends who I hope to keep forever. LBCT has taught me to always believe in yourself and never give up. I feel proud to have been part of a group that works so hard for its community and have raised so much money for local and national charities and is a source of entertainment for local people of all ages. I will now be going onto to study Contemporary Performance and Events Management at the University of Winchester in September, although i am extremely excited, I will miss LBCT so much! I hope when i am home that i shall come back to visit and help, LBCT this is not the last you will see of me!

Lissie
LBCT has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I used to go and watch the group's shows with my Grandparents (sometimes more than once) and when the run of each show would come to an end I would have learned all the words too every song off by heart. This was probably because my mum was the director, my dad was the musical director and they were being played at home constantly!! It wasn't until I joined the group about five years later that I realised how much fun it was to actually perform those songs! With every show came new friendships and memories, and those are the things which I will always treasure. I feel extremely proud to have witnessed LBCT's total amount of money raised for charity grow from zero to almost £50,000 over the years it has been running. In the future I hope to venture into the professional world of theatre, and LBCT has given me the guts to do that. This year I am going on to study an Opera course at Rose Bruford and will still be involved in LBCT's Advance Theatre Group. But I will miss the Youth Section a lot!
